So, we caught thousands, couldn't even estimate how many, baby dogfish at our cabin over the 4th. They were all nice sized, 3-4inches. They were in a tight school and the kids came up yelling that they caught a ton of minnows. We went down there and the net was full, elbow deep with blackness. It was crazy. There was still more than they netted swimming around in a tight school. The crazy part was that there was an adult dogfish "keeping watch" over them. I've never seen this behavior in any fish before. It hung out nearby and when the school was separated and we dumped the full net back in the water, she swam in and pushed the groups together and then swam them away like a sheep dog, kinda pushing them along, but keeping them together. Has anybody seen this? Should we be worried about our fishery with this many Dogfish present? I have some pics, but not sure how to post them
